Be Present With Family

Ananda-X Daily Digest poster: Be Present With Family, a three-step listening and appreciation practice

A short Ananda-X practice for giving family members undivided attention through listening, presence and appreciation.

The idea

Presence is more than being in the same room. It means allowing another person to feel heard without competing with devices, unfinished tasks or rehearsed responses.

A simple three-step practice

1. Arrive fully

Put the phone away, release the previous task and take one quiet breath before joining the conversation.

2. Listen before solving

Let the other person complete the thought. Ask one sincere question before offering advice.

3. Express appreciation

Name one quality, effort or moment you value. Make the appreciation specific and timely.

Reflection question

What does this person need from me right now: attention, understanding or practical help?

Use this today

Use this before a family meal, after returning from work or when a conversation feels hurried.
